crochet blanket one day

The amount of Pinterest attention to this post is so crazy! Thanks for reading, friends. It means so much to me that you’re here. Let me know if you have any questions! Feel free to follow along and stay awhile.

I made this blanket in one day.

Granted, I worked on it about all day.  But still, I think a day is pretty good.  All of the other blankets I’ve made have taken me at least a month to make.

I used a pretty big crochet hook (biggest I could find) and nine skeins of Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn.

For the first row, start with a slip stitch and make chain stitches for as long as you want the blanket to be. Start row two on the fourth stitch from your hook, making double crochet stitches.

Once you get to the end of row two, make four chain stitches and start row three on the second double crochet (the chain stitches act as your first double crochet). Repeat row three for the rest of the blanket and that’s all there is to it! I found that each skein of yarn had enough for four rows, with the exception of the first skein.

I love how chunky and soft this blanket turned out!  Even though the holes between the stitches are pretty big, it’s still so warm.  And who doesn’t want a cozy handmade blanket?one day blanket crochet bed

small things with great love

the love parcel

A few days ago, I stumbled upon The Love Parcel.  The idea is that you make some kind of mini package filled with anything you want- many have vintage trinkets, artwork, or handwritten notes.  Then you send it to Miranda, the creator of the project, and she uses a combination of her own creations and other people’s packages to send you a response!

I’m a sucker for snail mail.

This was a great excuse to try whatever artsy things I wanted and to make things that didn’t have a purpose except to be beautiful.  I painted and drew and sewed and crocheted and found vintage treasures, which were all perfect things to do over winter break, when it’s too cold to do anything outside.

At least for me, the cherry on top of this whole thing is the positivity and creativity that The Love Parcel promotes.  Gives me warm fuzzies to look at the pictures that are posted of packages from people all over the world.

For more information, look at The Love Parcel website or instagram and let me know if you send a package of your own!
